Santubong Princess

Do you know Mount Santubong and Mount Sejinjang in Sarawak? If you had cross these names, good because you have good knowledge in your mind. Well, these mounts  have their own stories too. In the past, locals said that two beautiful mythical sisters, Princess Santubong and Princess Sejinjang; from a kingdom called Kayangan.  The princesses were sent to the earth to help villagers in Pasir Kuning and Pasir Putih. Santubong was an expert weaver while Sejinjang was an excellent rice thresher. With those helps, the villages soon became prosperous.

Soon, they met Putera Mahkota Serapi of Matang. The prince fell in love both of them but they refused to be joint-wives (bermadu), then they had quarrel and exchanged blows. Sejinjang swung her thresher, hit Santubong's cheek. As she fell on her back, Princess Santubong threw her weaver to the Sejinjang; hitting directly at the head. The great Kayangan King cursed both sisters into mountains. Legends said that Mount Santubong resembles a woman lying on her back. The deep crevice at the peak is where the Princess Santubong received the blow to the cheek from her sister's thresher.

Basically, we never know this legend because it happened ancient times ago but as usual, we can listen to it but depends on our own thinking to believe it or not.
